Before
you can export data, you must first setup the Export format. This is a one-time action that you will need
to do. The format must be setup as shown
in this section for the Visual Pricing System application to understand the
format. To create your export format or
table, you must first gather some search results. Once you have search results you will see
then in a table. Then using the menus at
the top select the Options -> Save/ManageTables as shown in the graphic below.
The
first thing to do before adding columns to the table, let’s save out the table
under a new name so we can make changes to the table and not impact the current
table you are using. For this example,
we’ve named the table “Focus 1st VP” as shown below.
Once
you’ve save the table under a new name, we are ready
to redefine the table to include additional columns that we need. In most cases, several of the columns that we
need are already included. To add columns,
use the Options->Add Column from the menu. You should notice that the column headings shown
in the table are slightly different than those shown in the “Add Column”
function. For example, in the “Add Column”
function you may need to add “Acreage”.
However, once you do it will be shown as “Acres” in the table
header. So just be aware of that. Below we show the list of columns that you
need and the name of the column as shown in the “Add Column” function as well
as the name of the column as shown in the table.
While
you may include additional columns, these are the columns you will need. If any of these columns are not currently
part of the table, be sure to add them:

Once
you have added any of the columns that you need to, be sure to re-save the
table changes by using the Options -> Save/ManageTables function and showing the same
table name to overwrite the previous definition. You are now ready to do your MLS search and
export results.
Make
sure that all the status options are selected. This option will make sure that all the data
that is needed to create the appropriate graphs, is collected.
You
should also make your normal selection choice by selecting other options that
you would normally select in doing a CMA.
As mentioned earlier, looking at activity in specific subdivisions or
locations is a good starting point.
It is
also recommended that you include data from the last two year to enable you to
see the recent patterns (starting with the beginning of the year).
Once
you’ve selected the search criteria, press the ‘Search’
button to see the results in your table.
Once you have your search results in your table, you are ready to
download the results. To download the
results, use the Options->Export function from the top menu.
Next
you will see the “Export” dialog box as shown below.
Under
the “Enter export criteria: Layout” text, be sure to use the dropdown arrow to
select the “Focus 1st VP” table.
Keep everything else as is. Then
select the “Export” button at the top of the dialog box. This will export your file. The file will generally be saved in your “Download”
directory.
Once
you have saved your exported file, you are ready to run the application.
When you
run the application, you will need to point to the exported data file, so make
sure that you’ve placed the file in an easy to find place.
For
instructions on how to run the application, be sure to see the tutorials located at http://www.focus1st.com.
